2009 Youth Mission Trip to Mississippi

August 9th - 15th

The members of the UMYF & adult volunteers conducted a week long mission trip in Pearlington, Mississippi which is still in the process of rebuilding after being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.  Pearlington was directly hit by Katrina with the eye of the storm passing over the town.  The greatest damage was done by the storm surge waters which reached a depth of 30 feet.  Eighty percent (80%) of the buildings in Pearlington were washed completely away by the 30 foot wall of water.  The storm surge was so powerful that it washed away many of the the paved roads and even destroyed the buried water and sewer lines.  The remaining buildings were severely damaged by the wind and flood waters.  (See the "Photo Gallery" link on the left to see a few pictures from the trip.)

Church Camps

The UMC is blessed with several nice camps.  Camp Wesley is only about 10 miles from Lewistown and offers many camping events for youth.  LTUMC offers two full scholarships and up to six partial scholarships per year.  If you are interested, talk with your parents and then see Pastor Barry!

LTUMC Youth Mission Trip to Felicity, OH

June 19-23, 2007

Rear view of home the UMYF worked on.

Storage shed behind house.

Heather & Tyler working on the front porch.

Praying together.

Oops! Cleaning up spilled paint.

C.J. hard at work.

There were many animals at the camp site. Cats, Raccons and four of these nightly visitors looking for morsels of food.

Didn't you see him coming? Never, ever let your guard down on a youth trip. Not even for one second!

The Mission Trip ended with a day of fun at King's Island Amusement Park.
